AN AMERICAN OFFICERS 1872 PATTERN SWORD & SCABBARD (OHIO V)
An 1872 pattern sword made by M C Lilley & Co of Columbus Ohio, with 30" double-edged slim blade form. Marked amidst the foiliage and flags, crests etc is W Hammond 7th USV Infantry. Complete with a ornate hilt and steel scabbard, plain wooden (split) grip.
The 7th 'Ohio' Volunteer Infantry Regiment, distinguished themselves greatly during the Civil War. A memorial exists for those who died at Gettysburg.
