19THC FRENCH FASHION DOLL - CLAUDINE a French bisque swivel neck fashion doll circa 1860-1870, with blue glass paperweight eyes. On a leather body gusseted at the elbow, hip and knees, and with original wig and cork pate. With original underclothes, and dressed in an outfit from old materials, also with a 2nd outfit. No visible marks, 12 1/2ins (32cms) high
*This doll has always been known as Claudine, and was purchased in France during WW1 by an English Lady who was sent to France to sew the fabric wings of aircraft.
The doll remained with the family until 2009, when purchased by the current vendor in auction. The doll comes with various other notes about its history, and with the original owners fingerless gloves.
