A GENTLEMANS SILVER HILTED SMALLSWORD.
Traces of both maker and hall marks are on the shell guards.The ornate hilt of silver with multiple wire wrapped grip, again indistinct hallmarks on the bar itself. Having a 30.1/2" Colichemarde blade, with engraved decoration including Hanniball. Of some quality when made in the late period of rapiers and a change in requirements. The makers mark could well be JS. Lacking its scabbard, though in very good order.
