In the 1930 Navy List he is a P Lieutenant R N R.
Family providence states he was one of the last people out on a ship, from Hong Kong. It was during this retreat he was to save the life of the Tiger Balm King Later service was with the Royal Australian Navy, he never returned to Great Britain.
Presumably he took part in the 1937 Coronation, whereby he was awarded the medal.
The medal listing appears to show that he reapplied in 1948, for his Gt War Medals. It is also known he left at the last instance before the Japanese invaded, probably leaving his BEM and other medals behind. Again by family provenance he filled his car with all his valuable, and pushed it into the harbour during the final hours. The list is quite long, from officers requesting the same re-issues.
He retired with the rank of Commander.
