A 19thC MAMELUKE SWORD & SCABBARD.
Having ivory grips and steel mounts, steel and black leather mounted scabbard. The reversed quillions crossguard, with light engraving evident. Single-edged curved blade with three-quarter broad fuller, 31.1/4" length with Garden on the spine. Pierced design steel mounts to the scabbard, of decorative form. C1800.
John Garden is listed as working 1793-1819 in 203 Piccadilly. London. His descendants carried on the company until 1890.
