AN R WILSON FLINTLOCK PISTOL.
A brass barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss pistol, by Richard Wilson of London. Shown as working between 1730-1766, in the minories near the Tower of London. The 8" brass barrel with ringed muzzle, is struck at the breech with RW beneath a star also with London proofmarks. The steel lockplate signed Wilson, has a sliding safety catch with light engraving, The brass furniture has a devils mask buttplate, also foiliage decoration. Brass tipped ramrod with a worm drive, brass escutcheon plate inset in the grip, 14.1/2" overall length. Believed C1740 with 1702 proofmarks.
