A GEORGIAN DIRK
A Georgian Naval officers sword converted to be worn as a dirk, lacking a scabbard. The J J Runkell marked blade of Solingen, being shortened to 17.1/2" in length, still bears its gilt enhanced decoration. GR and Crown also Cannons, foiliage Royal Coat of Arms , etc remain on the now clipped back point blade. Having an ivory grip with Lions Head pommel, the quillions are swept forward and reverse sides. A well made conversion from a good quality officers sword, perhaps altered during family ownership some years ago.
