A VICTORIAN 74th FOOT OFFICERS DIRK WITH ETCHED BLADE.
A gilt mounted officers dirk of some quality, C1860 of the 74th Foot . The ornate mounts have the badge at the throat mount of the scabbard, also the Elephant and '74' inset in thistles. The mounts are all gilt again with thistle decoration, the hilt has Nemo Me Impune Lacessit on both sides.
The blade of some 11.1/2" length, with a single three-quarter fuller and serrated spine. Lightly engraved with Assaye and Elephant, also multiple Battle Honours together with a Lion and persevere, etc.
Etched in a scabbard mount are the initials J K W.
