REGENCY POLLARD OAK BOOKCASE CABINET, early 19th century, in the manner of George Bullock, the low arching pediment above a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelving, the base with a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing five graduated long drawers with turned pulls, on bracket feet and plinth base, the whole with ebony line inlay, height 191cm, width 87cm, depth 40.5cm Footnote: Christies, Great Tew, 27-29 May 1987, lot 284 for an oak and holly cabinet with a similar arrangement of drawers behind doors and a very similar shaped base. George Bullock made a pair of bookcase cabinets for Napoleon Bonaparte's house on St Helena with a similar arrangement of bookcase and cabinet enclosing drawers. *cf: M.
