* AMENDMENT: The shadowy building on the right of the painting is the Crystal Palace which was moved to Sydenham Hill from Hyde Park after the Great Exhibition. This would suggest the painting is of Sydenham Hill which has a corresponding view of St Paul's Cathedral from the south as Highgate does from the north. It is possible that the church depicted is St Stephen's, Dulwich.
