'Presblech' dies of this type are believed to have been used for making foil mounts. The interlaced knotwork design is in shallow relief, a thin sheet of gold, silver or copper would have been placed over the die, protected with a leather pad an impression will have been produced by a hammer-blow. “Just wanted to say what lovely staff you have. Literally everyone is so polite and friendly and it really is a pleasure dealing with all of them. I’m sure you know the above but honestly I have dealings with loads of rooms and none of the staff are a patch on yours.”
