AN ALBUM OF PHOTOGRAPHS RECORDING THE UNVEILING OF THE STATUE OF SIR F.A. SWEETENHAM IN KUALA LUMPUR.
An album of 24 photographs and a single loose photograph of the ceremony and events around the unveiling of a statue of Frank Athelstane Sweetenham. To include images of the statue before and after the unviling with groups of dignitaries, troops being inspected and battleships. Also a copy of 'British Malaya' from January 1947 reporting on an unveiling of the statue in 1947.
Sir Frank A. Sweetenham, 1925-1938, was a prominent British Colonial official in British Malaya. From 1882 he was appointed as resident to the Malay state of Selangor where he helped develop coffee and tobacco estates. Knighted in 1897 and from 1901 Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Straits Settlements.
