JAPANESE SHIN-GUNTO SWORD - SIGNED
with a fish skin and cord bound hilt, plain iron tsuba, copper gilt habaki, the saya is civilian of black lacquer and with a leather combat scabbard. Signed and translated to read Oshu Sendai (no) ju Fujiwara Kunikane saku (Fujiwara Kunikane made this living at Sendai in Rikuzen Province. It bears a date one lucky day in Keian fifth year, which would be 1653 Blade 66.5cms long, 96cms long overall.
*This is a civilian sword probably adapted for use in WW2 for a Japanese Officer.
