Lot 344
A GEORGE III CADDY SPOON
with a shaped and chamfered stem and a shaped circular bowl with pricked borders, engraved in the centre with the Royal Crown*, script monogram "HJ", by Thomas James, London 1813; 4" (10 cms) long; 0.65 oz
*The significance of the crown could have been patriotism following the war of 1812 between the British and the Americans with several naval engagements and the prevention of the Americans invading Canada. It could also have been just for royal support, after George III's illness finally lead to his son becoming Regent in 1811.
