Cycling Magazine: 1917 to 1921.
Six hardbound quarto volumes of the weekly magazine, the first in modern dark green cloth with gilt lettering/banding to the spine, the rest in the publisher's standard binding, the covers of these (apart from 1919) being rubbed and damp-stained. The first volume contains issues from Vol. LIV, No. 1381, 5th July, 1917, to No. 1406, 27th Dec, 1917, bound without covers/advertisements; the second holds the issues from Vol. LV, No. 1407, 3rd Jan, 1918, to No. 1432, 27th June, 1918, bound with covers/advertisements and a title page; the third has the issues from Vol. LVIII, No. 1485, July 3rd, 1919, to No. 1510, Dec 25th, 1919, bound without covers or advertisements, but with a title page; the remaining three volumes hold the issues from Vol. LIX, No. 1511, Jan 1st, 1920, to Vol. LIX, No. 1536, June 24th, 1920, and Vol. LXI, No. 1564, Jan 6th, 1921, through to Vol. LXII, No. 1615, Dec 29th, 1921 (in 2 volumes): the issues in all three are bound with their covers/advertisements, and the volumes have title pages at the front. The 1920 volume has broken front and rear hinges, and the preliminary pages, including the title page, are loose; the rear hinge of the last volume is also broken. The actual contents of all the volumes appear to be generally sound, but with the usual page-browning though age as well as some damp-staining. (6)
