Lot 478

A Bicycle Bell. A nickel-plated and decorated alarm with a depiction of Field Marshall Lord Roberts crafted on the top, and with German-manufactured patent wording inscribed to the side of the casing. Roberts was awarded the German Order of the Black Eagle during the Kaiser's visit to England 1901, and the bell may well be of this time, yet interestingly, Roberts increasingly warned of the German military threat before he died in 1914.
