Lot 37

The Autocar. Vol. XIII, No. 454, July 2nd, 1904 to Vol. XVII, No. 584, Dec 29th, 1906, bound in five volumes, all without the magazine covers. The first half-year is in a worn half-leather binding, covers and spine loose, no title page or index, but internally clean and sound; Vol. XIV, in red cloth, has title page and index, and appears clean and sound internally; the last three volumes are all in the standard publisher's green and gilt cloth binding and have their title pages and indices; Vol. XV and XV both have shabby and stained bindings, crudely re-enforced hinges, and show wear and staining internally, but appear to be complete; Vol. XVII, which has two ex-lib ink stamps on the front free end-paper, has a more sound binding, with only slight rubbing/wear, and appears to be clean and complete internally. Another very worn copy of Vol. XVI accompanies the lot. (6)

“I have to say I’m VERY impressed by the level of research that has gone in to the various items of my late father’s ...  Matthew sent me the full history of my Grandfather’s medals from WW1 - without any input from myself - so I’d only just sent him a note saying thanks, then the postman arrived with your items ... with even more evidence of unfrequented detailed research ! It’s been an absolute pleasure dealing with you all ... and may the pleasant surprises keep on coming !”
