ELEPHANT FOOT TABLE (Loxodonta africana)
an Elephants Foot, mounted with a hardwood top. With a Cites licence, No 553490/01, and listed under EU Annex A. 37cms high
*This item was given to N.M.W 'Husky' Irvin, a senior Civil Servant in Northern Rhodesia prior to it's independence and being renamed Zambia. One of his duties was to oversea the clearance of tribal groups and animals from an area to be flooded for a dam, Operation Noah (1958-1964). Despite their best efforts the Elephants were unable to be moved, so some Elephants were selectively shot to frighten the others into moving out of the danger area so some would be saved. A number of these tables were made to commemorate this.
