COLLECTION OF INDIAN BUTTERFLIES - MAJOR H T BIGGE
an interesting collection of 5 albums of Indian Butterflies, collected by a Major H T Bigge in 1946-47. Neatly laid out with the pressed Butterflies mounted on card in albums, with protective paper covering and all are annotated with information and dates. Specimens include, Swallowtails (Including Crimson Rose from Bombay, Blue Mormon, Common Mormon etc), Sunbeams, Oak Blues, Silver Lines, Costers, Tigers, Crows, Indian Orange Tips, Grass Yellows, Barons, Tortoiseshells etc. Also with an album of British butterflies (1949), three notebooks with some specimens inside (probably used in the field) some loose examples etc.
*Major H T Bigge served in India during the 1940's as a RA Dept Chief for the Imperial General Staff.
