Lot 1471
AFTER OMAR KHAYYAM,
an Arabic inscription in ink with gilt highlights, oval, 36cm x 45cm
Footnote: literal translation roughly reads 'Come on, let's not hurt tomorrow, let's kill the life of one year, and let's go through this journey with seven thousand years old'
Possibly refers to the poem in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which reads:
'O friend, for the morrow let us not worry
This moment we have now, let us not hurry
When our time comes, we shall not tarry
With seven thousand-year-olds, our burden carry'
