A Queens South Africa Medal with bars Natal and Transvaal, named to 12775 Pte H C Prett RAMC. British War & Victory Medals named to 12775 W O Cl 1 H C Prett RAMC. George V Long Service Good Conduct Medal named to 12775 S Sjt H C Prett RAMC.
Herbert Charles Prett enlisted in 1899, serving in the South African War (Medal with two clasps) He was also awarded the Kings South Africa Medal with two clasps. He is entitled to a 1914 Star serving in France from 10/8/1914.

He enlisted in 1899 and served through the South African Campaign. On the outbreak of war in August 1914 he was sent to the Western Front. There he took an active part in important engagements on various sectors and rendered valuable services until the cessation of hostilities. Still with the RAMC as a S-Major in 1920, his address was 15 Peterborough Rd, Southampton. He later served with His Majestys Custom & Excise as a Waterguard Officer. He died in 1951.
