A FRENCH ANX1 CAVALRY SWORD.
A French Cuirassiers Sword , with the rare hatchet point blade in very clean condition. The blade markings include V for Versailles and AP 'Atelier de Precision, possibly a 2nd Cuirassier's Regiment weapon. The scabbard of the Mk 3 type, issued for use in 1814. The hilt shows signs of use in battle, the marks consistent with deflected points. Several sword cuts are evident to the outer edges, the scabbards were used to deflect an opponents blade.
