Lot 1354

UNUSUALLY LARGE ROSENTHAL PORCELAIN FIGURE - FAUN WITH CROCODILE of unusually large proportions modelled with a Faun playing a pan flute, and with a Crocodile around it's feet. With Egyptian style hieroglyphics around the base, designed by Ferdinand Liebermann (1883-1941). Marked, Rosenthal, Selb Bavaria, TM monogram, K394/2. 25 1/4ins (64cms) high *This figure is a well known model by Liebermann, but is a much larger than any other examples I can find. This could have been made for an Exhibition, or possibly a one off commission as a Wedding gift to the vendor's relatives in Germany. It was designed in 1916 but this probably dates from the 1920's.
