A 1914-15 STAR TO THE YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. A 1914-15 Star named to 14245 Private A. E. Eyears. Yorks L.I. Alfred Edward Eyears was born c1892 in Lewes he was a resident of Worthing. He died at the age of 23 on the 23rd October 1915 of wounds received whilst serving with the 8th (Service) Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry who had only recently arrived in France landing in August of 1915. He is commemorated at the Canadian Cemetery at Sailly-Sur-La-Lys cemetry near the French/Belgian border. His headstone 'In Loving memory from us all. Gone but not Forgotten'.
