An early 20th century small plain circular dish or ashtray with a raised central boss, set with a Newport Isle of Wight "one shilling" trade token (dated 1811), inscribed around the centre "SIR WILLIAM REARDON SMITH DONO DEDIT", hallmarked London 1933 and struck also with Murphy's Falcon Studio mark; 5" (12.5 cms) diameter; 4.1 oz
**William Reardon Smith (1856-1935) was an English ship owner and a major benefactor to the National Museum of Wales. He was created a baronet in the King's 1920 Birthday Honours in recognition of his shipping services during WW1.
