BY H.G. MURPHY:- An early 20th century small plain circular dish or ashtray with a raised central boss, set with a Hampshire "one shilling" trade token (dated 1811), inscribed around the centre "SIR WILLIAM REARDON SMITH DONO DEDIT", hallmarked London 1933 and struck also with Murphy's Falcon Studio mark; 5" (12.5 cms) diameter; 4.1 oz *William Reardon Smith (1856-1935) was an English ship owner and a major benefactor to the National Museum of Wales. He was created a baronet in the King's 1920 Birthday Honours in recognition of his shipping services during WW1.
