An early 20th century Irish provincial circular box & cover with bead borders & a gilt interior, the cover engraved with a large monogram, by William Egan of Cork, with Dublin hallmarks for 1916*, and an extra mark depicting the arms of Cork; 3.4" (8.5 cms) diameter; 5 oz
*1916 was the year of the Easter uprising when a group of Irish Nationalists proclaimed the establishment of the Irish Republic and with 1600 followers, staged a rebellion against the British Government in Ireland.
