of elongated baluster form with engraved formal borders & strapwork, unscrewing in several sections to reveal compartments for needles, a smelling box & thread bobbins, detachable seal terminal & thimble, struck with a later (19th century) French duty mark together with another similar slightly shorter example; the former 4.3" (11 cms) long; 2.6 oz (2)
