Fale, Thomas. Horologiographia. The Art of Dialling..., ?third edition, wood-engravings in text, soiled, fore-edge chipped with substantial loss to margins, title with slight loss of text, parchment in late 19th century cloth boards, 4to, London: Felix Kingston, 1627 [STC 10680] This copy appears to have been trimmed with an especially generous fore-edge in excess of 40mm. Several past owners have taken advantage and there are extensive annotations; some calculating dates, others noting events, 'June 28 1804. Saw shooting with bow and arrows cum Johanne June 27 1794 at Wavertree...' and 'Sept 8 1812 in war ever Since. No hope of Peace', with the entries seemingly random and compulsive. The rounding of pages and soiling is extreme, but the printed text appears complete, save the slight loss to the title-page.

“Amongst the things that have impressed me most are -your Expertise (knowledge based on experience - it’s either that, or research) which enabled you to identify items which deserved a place in the Fine Art Sales, where several went on to achieve spectacular figures. -your lotting. The way some items are lotted together, but something similar, but of higher value, is lotted on it’s own, or is put with some items of similar interest but much lower value. -your realistic guide prices. It all adds up to a seriously impressive service ! Many thanks to you and your team.”
