A MID 18TH CENTURY MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK, the brass dial signed John Stancliffe, with chapter ring displaying both Arabic and Roman numerals surrounding a floral engraved central dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the painted moon phase dial with cottage and maritime scenes below a silvered arch reading 'TIME Stayeth not', on a brass eight day two train movement striking to a bell, the case with Corinthian columns, shaped door and panelled base, with two weights, pendulum and winders, height 233cm *presumed to be John Stancliffe of Barkisland, West Yorkshire (1706-1780) [Loomes]
