Hunter, W. S. Victoria Bridge, Montreal Canada, Summer [and Winter] View, a tinted lithograph print of two seasonal panoramic views of Victoria Bridge, each 687mm x 218mm, some surface abrasions and soiling, backed on linen, New York: Sarony, Major and Knapp, [c.1860]
This print was produced in 1860, perhaps to mark the official opening by the Prince of Wales, but specifically to 'accompany' a small souvenir booklet, Hunter's Handbook of the Victoria Bridge, written by F.N. Boxer and published in the same year by Hunter and Pickup. The print is unusual in having two seasonal views; one of summer and a second of winter, presumably to demonstrate the famous 'ice-breaking' piers in action.
