Lichfield Cathedral and the Very Rev. Hon. Henry Edward John Howard, (1795-1868), Dean. A collection including album containing photographs of the cathedral, interiors, portraits etc., with a few watercolours of architectural details by the Dean's wife, Henrietta Elizabeth (nee Wright). Oblong 8vo., orig. vellum gilt; leather folder containing receipt for the new font, signed by the sculptor, James Forsyth, 1861, and sketches of windows etc.; correspondence to the Dean and his wife, including ALS in the third person from Sir Robert Peel [1839] relating to the visit of Queen Adelaide, the Duchess of Sutherland (his niece) and others; a family photograph album, and printed volume: A Short Account of Lichfield Cathedral… Fourth Edition, Lichfield, 1834. 8vo., orig. cloth backed boards. (a lot) The Dean was the youngest son of Frederick, 5th Earl of Carlisle, and took a prominent part in, and contributed largely to the restoration of Lichfield cathedral. He was also the Rector of Donington, Shropshire.
