The state of the first volume does not correspond to the descriptions given by Norton (1940). The preface is dated 'Feb. 1, 1776' and X4 is a cancel leaf, signed. However, Rrr2, Sss4, a4 and b2 are not cancels; all are signed. The errata leaf has corrections to p.561, and for the notes to p.lxvii.
