Thomas Hussey (1746-1803) held a long and distinguished career. He was appointed chaplain to the Spanish Embassy in London in 1767 and made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1792. He was made the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, Ireland, around 1795. Lecky described him as 'the ablest English-speaking Bishop of his time'.
