Hogarth, William. The Analysis of Beauty, new edition, 2 large folding engraved plates, light spotting, modern half period calf, new endpapers, 4to, London: Printed by W. Strahan, for Mrs Hogarth, 1772 ASSOCIATION COPY. A contemporary ink annotation notes, 'From the Library of H.R.H. The Princess of Hesse Homberg, with her autograph. Soth.[eby] and Wilk. [inson] 1863.' The title is signed twice, once indistinctly and again by the artist Walt Spindler, 1905. Princess Elizabeth, Landgravine of Hesse-Homberg (1770-1840) was the third daughter of George III and a keen amateur artist.
