Forster, Edward Morgan. An ALS to Sir Henry Denny, discussing his involvement with the Pageant of Abinger, '19 Manchester Street, W.1. Dear Sir Henry, Thank you for your kind letter, and I shall be interested to hear of any developments as regards the Pageant. I fear though that my own sentiment is against any revival; while as regards the cinema-trade I can't help feeling that as at present organised, it vulgarises whatever it touches, so that I hope that its help will be found unnecessary. These are just personal reactions, but I give them since you have been so good as to communicate with me on the matter. With kind regards to Lady Denny and yourself: Yours sincerely, E.M. Forster', 2pp., on West Hackhurst notepaper, struck through, dated '21-3-36', together with a copy of the Pageant of Abinger programme, July 1936 (2)

“I have to say I’m VERY impressed by the level of research that has gone in to the various items of my late father’s ...  Matthew sent me the full history of my Grandfather’s medals from WW1 - without any input from myself - so I’d only just sent him a note saying thanks, then the postman arrived with your items ... with even more evidence of unfrequented detailed research ! It’s been an absolute pleasure dealing with you all ... and may the pleasant surprises keep on coming !”
