Aristophanes. [Works... translated by Bartholomew Frere], 4 parts in one volume, inscribed, 'To Henry Nelson Coleridge Esq., with Mr Freres respectful Compliments'., contemporary green full morocco gilt, all edges gilt, rubbed, 4to, [Malta and London]: Privately Published, 1839-[1840] PROVENANCE: Henry Nelson Coleridge (1798-1843) was the editor of the works of his uncle, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. He married the poet's daughter, Sara, in 1829. The volume is further inscribed by Ellen Coleridge, 'John Duke Coleridge. In Memory of Herbert Coleridge, from his widow and sister, 1861.' Bartholomew Frere (1776-1851) was a British diplomat, stationed in the Mediterranean.
