ATTRIBUTED TO DOROTHY HEPWORTH (1898-1978) GIRL READING Bears indistinct initials (possibly WER) and date 19 upper left, formerly inscribed P. Preece and Moor Hatch-Cookham-Berks verso (now obscured by lining) 39.5 x 35.5cm.; with a pencil drawing of a girl sewing by Hepworth, 48 x 31cm. (2) * Dorothy Hepworth had a close relationship with Patricia Preece, wife of Sir Stanley Spencer, and this has given rise to speculation that Hepworth could have painted some of the works formerly ascribed to Preece.
