* The sisters were Milborough, Mrs Edmund Pateshall-Burnam; and Frances Elizabeth, Mrs Dansey Richard Dansey (c.1787-1851). They were co-heiresses of their father's estate and this portrait might have been painted c.1813 to commemorate the inheritance (the sketch tablet depicts a country house). The picture has passed by descent in the sitters' family.
