Comprising approximately 50 sketchbooks in various sizes, the very wide variety of subjects in watercolour, ink and pencil, to include some views of Castle Howard, scenes in Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire, Isle of Wight, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Channel Islands, France, Germany, Italy (Rome, Florence), Austria, Switzerland, one of Malta and many other places in Britain and abroad; also some figure subjects, portrait sketches, animal studies, architectural details etc etc; some books with many blank leaves, many with some pages of handwritten notes, also many loose watercolours and drawings not in the sketchbooks, many studies rather slight, various sizes (approx 50 vols plus loose items)
* Henrietta Wright, daughter of Ichabod Wright and of his wife Harriet (nee Day), married The Very Rev The Hon. Henry Edward John Howard DD (1795-1868), Dean of Lichfield and son of Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle. Works by their son, Captain John Henry Howard RN (1827-1925), grandson Commander Robert John Howard RN (1878-1965), his wife Violet Mary Collins (1888-1930) and Sir George Strickland, Bt. (1782-1874) are also included.
