EDWARD LEAR (1812-1888) YENIDJÉ Pen and brown ink with watercolour Image 10.5 x 17.5cm. Lear visited Yenidjé (present-day Γιαννιτσά in Greek Macedonia) on 13 September 1848; it was his first overnight stop after leaving Salonica on his journey in Northern Greece and Albania. The town is described in his Journals of a Landscape Painter in Albania (pp. 30-33 and plate).
