OSCAR ASCHE SIGNED VASE - THEATRE INTEREST
a pottery vase made on stage during Chu Chin Chow, a musical based on Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Signed on the vase, Chu Chin Chow, 1916, 17, 18, 19, Oscar Asche 1920. 20cms high
*This vase was acquired in 1920 when the vendors relations went to the show, they ordered the vase they made on stage and it was presented on stage to them after the final curtain. This show was an incredible success and ran for over 5 years, making everyone involved very wealthy. By 1924 Asche had earned £120,000 from the show (over 2 million today), but he was an inveterate gambler and was bankrupt by 1926.
