AN UNUSUAL HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD.
The sword with an 80cm double edged pointed blade with central fuller, the handle with decorative ivory grip in a 'five bead' pattern guard with side ring and high urn finial, in a leather scabbard with steel mounts. There was a 1796 pattern dress or dismounted service sword and it has been suggested that this is the equivalent for the 1788 pattern heavy cavalry sword. 102cm overall.
