Roy Nockolds (1911-1979): Oil Painting of Robert Benoist. A mounted, framed and glazed work by the artist, oil on canvas laid on board, signed by the artist in the lower right corner. The work depicts the French racing driver Robert Benoist (1895 - 1944) on his way to winning the 1927 British Grand Prix at Brooklands in his blue Delage No.2. Another cut-away panel below the oil painting gives a brief biography of the short life of Benoist, claiming that the present work is 'a very rare example of this great French driver, and is the finest known example of Benoist in action'. To the right-hand side of the panel an embroidered BRDC badge has been 'tipped-in'. Frame size 27 x 26-inches (69 x 66cm), Nockolds painting size 9 x 16½-inches (22½ x 42cm).

“Your condition reports are very concise and really help making informed decisions. You probably know, some auctioneers are very vague and others don’t even send them, so much appreciated!”
