AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY 'LES VOLTIGEURS DE QUEBEC' SOLDIERS SHAKO. A flat topped shako with elaborate feather plume, broad swept back with a small black face of Medusa affixed, the front with 8 pointed star beneath a King's Crown with '9' to the centre. the interior with leather band and label 6 5/8 and marked 9B 414, with fitted chin strap, 22cm high, 27cm front to back. The Voltigeurs De Quevec were the first French Canadian regiment, founded in 1862 remains a light Infantry unit of the Canadian Armed Forces.
