A SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL 1853 TO THE 60TH RIFLES. A South Africa Medal dated 1853 named to 1332 Pte John Bull 2nd Btn 60th Rifles. John Bull was a blacksmith from the Chard area, he attested for the 60th Regiment of Rifles at Portsmouth on the 10th May 1839 at the age of 18 years and six months. Of his 21 years he spent 8 and a half abroad; Cape of Good Hope, East Indies and Kaffir War in 1851.2.3. His record includes four good conduct badges and two court martials which saw rise and fall between the ranks of Private and Corporal. Sold with copied discharge papers.
