An Indian Mutiny Medal with Lucknow and Defence of Lucknow clasps named to Jas. Shaw 84th Regiment, on brooch suspension. Private James Shaw of the 84th Regiment is confirmed to the medal roll with these two clasps. He is recorded with the number 1874 with the 84th (York and Lancaster) Regiment of Foot serving at Pembroke Docks and Trinchonopoly (Tiruchirappalli).
