Lot 318
PAN Motor Company
A rare 1918 landscape-style promotional book of 269pp offering a highly-detailed explanation of the company founded by Samuel Pandolfo, with excellent monochrome and colour pictures of the factory, offices and workshops, model(s) produced, pictures and biographies of staff, street scenes of 'Pan Town' comprising 58 homes for the workforce. Four fold-out charts are housed in the front and rear pockets. On February 1, 1919, a federal grand jury in Chicago indicted Pandolfo, and all officers of the company, with seven counts of mail fraud for sending misleading materials through the federal mails. The embossed faux leather cover is sound, although the spine is scruffy and split internally. It is understood that 737 cars were manufactured and it is believed 5 are extant.
