A New Department at Lawrences...

We’ve got an exciting announcement at Lawrences. We are now open for consignments to a new department.
Jon Matthews, General Manager – “I’ve decided to head up a department of my own to bring in some of my own passion and enthusiasm outside of the management office. The new department is going to specialise in all things music. Initially vinyl records, musical instruments, hopefully some nice guitars, and all-round music memorabilia.
I’ve been a record collector myself since about the age of 15, and I’ve been playing guitar since around the same age, maybe a couple of years earlier. I bring a real passion to the department, and that’s something I see throughout the staff here at Lawrences. Everyone who runs a department and catalogues here has a genuine passion for what they do day to day.
I do all the boring management stuff behind the scenes, the things that need to be done, but it doesn’t always leave much room for passion. That’s management, and that’s absolutely fine. It’s got me to where I am today. But hopefully this gives me something outside of that which can put a smile on my face every day.”
Jon Matthews – “I’d love to see some early vintage acoustic guitars if we’re lucky, some early Gibsons or Martin guitars. I’d also love to see the weird and wonderful instruments. Unusual or eclectic guitars, old gig posters, vintage music T-shirts, signed memorabilia, merchandise, really anything related to music that I can get my teeth into and feel passionate about. Anything with a story behind it is exciting."
It’s really exciting to see what you can find out there. It might encourage us all to get our turntables out again!
