He showed portrait busts and medals at the Royal Academy from 1908-1935, including a niche group for the War Memorial in the Masonic Hall in Leicester. In addition, Morcom exhibited twenty three of his works at The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; five at The Royal Cambrian Academy; and at the Leicester Society of Artists' Annual Exhibitions. This bust, which dates from the mid-1930's, has been consigned for sale by his son and combines an interest in traditional metalworking techniques with the vogue for semi-abstraction in the human face seen in works by Picasso and Modigliani. £500-700 |

| 2069 | ANTONIO HUBERTI (1907-2000) LA FEMME Signed, painted wood and metal construction upon a wooden base 111cm. high Provenance: Studio of the artist until December 2004 Exhibited: London, Waterhouse and Dodd, New Means, New Subjects: An Exhibition of Modernist paintings and Sculptures from the Last Century, including a Collection of 41 Works by Antonio Huberti, 2002, no.36 Huberti is a somewhat elusive figure, a mystery compounded by his having been born in Spain as Bernhard Globerman. Many reference books state that he died in 1980: in fact, he lived on for a further twenty years. However, it is known that he moved to Paris c.1920-1923 and established his career there, inspired by Picasso and Braque. He chose themes such as wine, women and music that reflected these influences as well as the atmosphere of Paris in the Jazz Age. £400-600 |
